What is predict-gsat

predict-gsat is:

The gsat program is a graphical client for the ‘predict’ satellite tracking program running in server mode, built using gtk.

Since this program can be run on a different machine than predict, there is no dependency specified… but you need access to a copy of ‘predict’ installed somewhere on the network for this programs to be useful!

There are three methods to install predict-gsat on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install predict-gsat Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install predict-gsat using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install predict-gsat

Install predict-gsat Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install predict-gsat using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install predict-gsat

Install predict-gsat Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install predict-gsat using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install predict-gsat

How To Uninstall predict-gsat on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the predict-gsat package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove predict-gsat

Uninstall predict-gsat And Its Dependencies

To uninstall predict-gsat and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove predict-gsat

Remove predict-gsat Configurations and Data

To remove predict-gsat configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge predict-gsat

Remove predict-gsat configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove predict-gsat configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge predict-gsat
