on CentOS 7.
What is postgresql
PostgreSQL is an advanced Object-Relational database management system (DBMS). The base postgresql package contains the client programs that you’ll need to access a PostgreSQL DBMS server, as well as HTML documentation for the whole system. These client programs can be located on the same machine as the PostgreSQL server, or on a remote machine that accesses a PostgreSQL server over a network connection. We can use yum
or dnf
to install postgresql
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install postgresql.
Install postgresql on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
After updating yum database, We can install postgresql
using yum
by running the following command:

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
