How To Install postgis-gui on Debian 10

on Debian 10.
What is postgis-gui
postgis-gui is:
PostGIS adds support for geographic objects to the PostgreSQL object-relational database. In effect, PostGIS “spatially enables” the PostgreSQL server, allowing it to be used as a backend spatial database for geographic information systems (GIS), much like ESRI’s SDE or Oracle’s Spatial extension. PostGIS follows the OpenGIS “Simple Features Specification for SQL”.
This package contains the PostGIS graphical shape file loader, shp2pgsql-gui.
There are three methods to install postgis-gui
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install postgis-gui Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install postgis-gui
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install postgis-gui

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install postgis-gui
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install postgis-gui
Install postgis-gui Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install postgis-gui
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install postgis-gui
How To Uninstall postgis-gui on Debian 10
To uninstall only the postgis-gui
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove postgis-gui
Uninstall postgis-gui And Its Dependencies
To uninstall postgis-gui
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove postgis-gui
Remove postgis-gui Configurations and Data
To remove postgis-gui
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge postgis-gui
Remove postgis-gui configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove postgis-gui
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge postgis-gui
