What is postfix-lmdb

postfix-lmdb is:

Postfix is Wietse Venema’s mail transport agent that started life as an alternative to the widely-used Sendmail program. Postfix attempts to be fast, easy to administer, and secure, while at the same time being sendmail compatible enough to not upset existing users. Thus, the outside has a sendmail-ish flavor, but the inside is completely different.

This provides support for LMDB maps in Postfix. If you plan to use LMDB maps with Postfix, you need this.

There are three methods to install postfix-lmdb on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install postfix-lmdb Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install postfix-lmdb using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install postfix-lmdb

Install postfix-lmdb Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install postfix-lmdb using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install postfix-lmdb

Install postfix-lmdb Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install postfix-lmdb using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install postfix-lmdb

How To Uninstall postfix-lmdb on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the postfix-lmdb package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove postfix-lmdb

Uninstall postfix-lmdb And Its Dependencies

To uninstall postfix-lmdb and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove postfix-lmdb

Remove postfix-lmdb Configurations and Data

To remove postfix-lmdb configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge postfix-lmdb

Remove postfix-lmdb configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove postfix-lmdb configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge postfix-lmdb
