Postfix is Wietse Venema’s mail transport agent that started life as an alternative to the widely-used Sendmail program. Postfix attempts to be fast, easy to administer, and secure, while at the same time being sendmail compatible enough to not upset existing users. Thus, the outside has a sendmail-ish flavor, but the inside is completely different.

This provides support for LDAP maps in Postfix. If you plan to use LDAP maps with Postfix, you need this.

There are three methods to install postfix-ldap on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install postfix-ldap Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install postfix-ldap using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install postfix-ldap

Install postfix-ldap Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install postfix-ldap using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install postfix-ldap

Install postfix-ldap Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install postfix-ldap using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install postfix-ldap

How To Uninstall postfix-ldap on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the postfix-ldap package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove postfix-ldap

Uninstall postfix-ldap And Its Dependencies

To uninstall postfix-ldap and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove postfix-ldap

Remove postfix-ldap Configurations and Data

To remove postfix-ldap configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge postfix-ldap

Remove postfix-ldap configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove postfix-ldap configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
