Postfix is Wietse Venema’s mail transport agent that started life as an alternative to the widely-used Sendmail program. Postfix attempts to be fast, easy to administer, and secure, while at the same time being sendmail compatible enough to not upset existing users. Thus, the outside has a sendmail-ish flavor, but the inside is completely different.

This provides support for CDB (constant database) maps in Postfix. If you plan to use CDB maps with Postfix, you need this.

There are three methods to install postfix-cdb on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install postfix-cdb Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install postfix-cdb using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install postfix-cdb

Install postfix-cdb Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install postfix-cdb using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install postfix-cdb

Install postfix-cdb Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install postfix-cdb using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install postfix-cdb

How To Uninstall postfix-cdb on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the postfix-cdb package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove postfix-cdb

sudo apt-get -y autoremove postfix-cdb
