What is portaudio-devel
PortAudio is a portable audio I/O library designed for cross-platform support of audio. It uses a callback mechanism to request audio processing. Audio can be generated in various formats, including 32 bit floating point, and will be converted to the native format internally. This package contains files required to build applications that will use the portaudio library.
We can use yum or dnf to install portaudio-devel on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install portaudio-devel.
Install portaudio-devel on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install portaudio-devel using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install portaudio-devel
Install portaudio-devel on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install portaudio-devel using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install portaudio-devel
How To Uninstall portaudio-devel on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the portaudio-devel package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove portaudio-devel
