Toolbx is a tool which allows the use of containerised command line environments. It offers a familiar package based environment for developing and debugging software that runs fully unprivileged using Podman.

A toolbx container is a fully mutable container; when you see yum install ansible for example, that’s something you can do inside your toolbx container, without affecting the base operating system.

Toolbx used to be known as Container Toolbox.

There are three methods to install podman-toolbox on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install podman-toolbox Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install podman-toolbox using apt-get by running the following command:
