How To Install podman-toolbox on Debian 12

What is podman-toolbox
podman-toolbox is:
Toolbx is a tool which allows the use of containerised command line environments. It offers a familiar package based environment for developing and debugging software that runs fully unprivileged using Podman.
A toolbx container is a fully mutable container; when you see yum install ansible for example, that’s something you can do inside your toolbx container, without affecting the base operating system.
Toolbx used to be known as Container Toolbox.
There are three methods to install podman-toolbox
on Debian 12. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install podman-toolbox Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install podman-toolbox
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install podman-toolbox
Install podman-toolbox Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install podman-toolbox
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install podman-toolbox
Install podman-toolbox Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install podman-toolbox
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install podman-toolbox
How To Uninstall podman-toolbox on Debian 12
To uninstall only the podman-toolbox
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove podman-toolbox
Uninstall podman-toolbox And Its Dependencies
To uninstall podman-toolbox
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove podman-toolbox
Remove podman-toolbox Configurations and Data
To remove podman-toolbox
configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge podman-toolbox
Remove podman-toolbox configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove podman-toolbox

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge podman-toolbox
