What is podman-catatonit
Catatonit is a /sbin/init program for use within containers. It forwards (almost) all signals to the spawned child, tears down the container when the spawned child exits, and otherwise cleans up other exited processes (zombies). This is a reimplementation of other container init programs (such as “tini” or “dumb-init”), but uses modern Linux facilities (such as signalfd(2)) and has no additional features.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install podman-catatonit
on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install podman-catatonit.

Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh

Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh

How To Uninstall podman-catatonit on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the podman-catatonit
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove podman-catatonit
