How To Install podget on Debian 9
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install podget
on Debian 9.
What is podget
podget is:
Podget is a simple podcast aggregator optimized for running as a scheduled background job (i.e. cron). It features support for downloading podcasts from RSS & ATOM XML feeds, for sorting the files into folders & categories, for importing URLs from iTunes PCAST files & OPML lists automatic M3U & ASX playlist creation, and automatic cleanup of old files. It also features automatic UTF-16 conversion for podcasts hosted on MS Windows servers. Run podget once to install the users configuration files to $HOME/.podget, and then customize them there.
There are three methods to install podget
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install podget Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install podget
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install podget
Install podget Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install podget
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install podget
Install podget Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install podget

How To Uninstall podget on Debian 9
To uninstall only the podget
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove podget
Uninstall podget And Its Dependencies
To uninstall podget
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove podget
Remove podget Configurations and Data

configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
