How To Install pnetcdf-bin on Ubuntu 18.04

What is pnetcdf-bin
pnetcdf-bin is:
Contains tools for working on netCDF files in parallel.
PnetCDF provides high-performance parallel I/O while still maintaining file-format compatibility with Unidata’s NetCDF, specifically the formats of CDF-1 and CDF-2.
In addition, PnetCDF supports the CDF-5 file format, an extension of CDF-2, that supports more data types and allows users to define large dimensions, attributes, and variables (>2B elements).
There are three methods to install pnetcdf-bin
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get

After updating apt database, We can install pnetcdf-bin

Update apt database with apt

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pnetcdf-bin
using apt

Install pnetcdf-bin Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pnetcdf-bin
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pnetcdf-bin
How To Uninstall pnetcdf-bin on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the pnetcdf-bin
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pnetcdf-bin
Uninstall pnetcdf-bin And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pnetcdf-bin
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pnetcdf-bin
Remove pnetcdf-bin Configurations and Data
To remove pnetcdf-bin
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pnetcdf-bin
Remove pnetcdf-bin configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pnetcdf-bin
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pnetcdf-bin
