How To Install pmidi on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install pmidi on Kali Linux.
What is pmidi
pmidi is:
ALSA is an effort to create a modules sound system for Linux, while maintaining full compatibility with OSS/Lite.
This program works with latest ALSA 1.0 drivers and former 0.9 versions.
This is a straightforward command line program to play midi files through the ALSA sequencer.
As you can specify the client and port to connect to on the command line it is also useful for testing ALSA or clients that need to receive sequencer events.
There are three methods to install pmidi on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pmidi Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install pmidi using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pmidiInstall pmidi Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install pmidi using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pmidiInstall pmidi Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install pmidi using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pmidiHow To Uninstall pmidi on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the pmidi package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pmidiUninstall pmidi And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pmidi and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pmidiRemove pmidi Configurations and Data
To remove pmidi configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pmidiRemove pmidi configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pmidi configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pmidiDependencies
