In this tutorial we learn how to install pluma on CentOS 7.

What is pluma

pluma is a small, but powerful text editor designed specifically for the MATE desktop. It has most standard text editor functions and fully supports international text in Unicode. Advanced features include syntax highlighting and automatic indentation of source code, printing and editing of multiple documents in one window. pluma is extensible through a plugin system, which currently includes support for spell checking, comparing files, viewing CVS ChangeLogs, and adjusting indentation levels.

We can use yum or dnf to install pluma on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install pluma.

Install pluma on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install pluma using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install pluma

Install pluma on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install pluma using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install pluma

How To Uninstall pluma on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the pluma package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove pluma
