What is pinentry-qt4

Pinentry is a collection of simple PIN or passphrase entry dialogs which utilize the Assuan protocol as described by the aegypten project; see http This package contains the Qt4 GUI based version of the PIN entry dialog. Support for Qt4 is new, and a bit experimental.

We can use yum or dnf to install pinentry-qt4 on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install pinentry-qt4.

Install pinentry-qt4 on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install pinentry-qt4 using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install pinentry-qt4

Install pinentry-qt4 on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install pinentry-qt4 using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install pinentry-qt4

How To Uninstall pinentry-qt4 on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the pinentry-qt4 package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove pinentry-qt4
