How To Install pidgin on Debian 12

What is pidgin
pidgin is:
Pidgin is a graphical, modular instant messaging client capable of using multiple networks at once. Currently supported out of the box are: Jabber/XMPP, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Lotus Sametime, SIMPLE, and Zephyr. It can support many more with plugins.
Some extra packages are suggested to use increased functionality:

on Debian 12. We can use apt-get

and aptitude

Install pidgin Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pidgin
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pidgin

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pidgin
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pidgin
Install pidgin Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pidgin
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pidgin
How To Uninstall pidgin on Debian 12
To uninstall only the pidgin
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pidgin
Uninstall pidgin And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pidgin
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pidgin
Remove pidgin Configurations and Data
To remove pidgin
configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pidgin
