How To Install php-xdebug on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install php-xdebug on Kali Linux.
What is php-xdebug
php-xdebug is:
The Xdebug extension helps you debugging your script by providing a lot of valuable debug information. The debug information that Xdebug can provide includes the following:
* stack traces and function traces in error messages with:
- full parameter display for user defined functions
- function name, file name and line indications
- support for member functions
* memory allocation
* protection for infinite recursions
Xdebug also provides:
* profiling information for PHP scripts
* script execution analysis
* capabilities to debug your scripts interactively with a debug client
There are three methods to install php-xdebug on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install php-xdebug Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install php-xdebug using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install php-xdebugInstall php-xdebug Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install php-xdebug using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install php-xdebugInstall php-xdebug Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install php-xdebug using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install php-xdebugHow To Uninstall php-xdebug on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the php-xdebug package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove php-xdebugUninstall php-xdebug And Its Dependencies
To uninstall php-xdebug and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove php-xdebugRemove php-xdebug Configurations and Data
To remove php-xdebug configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge php-xdebugRemove php-xdebug configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove php-xdebug configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
