How To Install php-odbc on CentOS 7

What is php-odbc
The php-odbc package contains a dynamic shared object that will add database support through ODBC to PHP. ODBC is an open specification which provides a consistent API for developers to use for accessing data sources (which are often, but not always, databases). PHP is an HTML-embeddable scripting language. If you need ODBC support for PHP applications, you will need to install this package and the php package.
We can use yum or dnf to install php-odbc on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install php-odbc.
Install php-odbc on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install php-odbc using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install php-odbc
Install php-odbc on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install php-odbc using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install php-odbc
How To Uninstall php-odbc on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the php-odbc package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove php-odbc
