What is pgbadger

pgbadger is:

pgBadger is a PostgreSQL log analyzer built for speed with fully detailed reports from your PostgreSQL log file. It’s a single and small Perl script that outperforms any other PostgreSQL log analyzer. It is written in pure Perl and uses a JavaScript library to draw graphs that are zoomable and can be saved as PNG images.

pgBadger is able to autodetect the log file format (syslog, stderr or csvlog). It is designed to parse huge log files as well as compressed files.

There are three methods to install pgbadger on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install pgbadger Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install pgbadger using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install pgbadger

Install pgbadger Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install pgbadger using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install pgbadger

Install pgbadger Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install pgbadger using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install pgbadger

How To Uninstall pgbadger on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the pgbadger package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove pgbadger

Uninstall pgbadger And Its Dependencies

To uninstall pgbadger and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove pgbadger

Remove pgbadger Configurations and Data

To remove pgbadger configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge pgbadger

Remove pgbadger configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove pgbadger configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
