How To Install perlbrew on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install perlbrew on Kali Linux.
What is perlbrew
perlbrew is:
perlbrew is a program to automate the building and installation of perl in the users HOME. At the moment, it installs everything to ~/perl5/perlbrew, and requires you to tweak your PATH by including a bashrc/cshrc file it provides, in your shell configuration file. You then can benefit from not having to run ‘sudo’ commands to install cpan modules because those are installed inside your HOME too. It’s a completely separate perl environment.
There are three methods to install perlbrew on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install perlbrew Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install perlbrew using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install perlbrewInstall perlbrew Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install perlbrew using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install perlbrewInstall perlbrew Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install perlbrew using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install perlbrewHow To Uninstall perlbrew on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the perlbrew package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove perlbrewUninstall perlbrew And Its Dependencies
To uninstall perlbrew and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove perlbrewRemove perlbrew Configurations and Data
To remove perlbrew configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge perlbrewRemove perlbrew configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove perlbrew configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge perlbrewDependencies
