How To Install perl-threads on Rocky Linux 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install perl-threads
on Rocky Linux 8.
What is perl-threads
Since Perl 5.8, thread programming has been available using a model called interpreter threads which provides a new Perl interpreter for each thread, and, by default, results in no data or state information being shared between threads. (Prior to Perl 5.8, 5005threads was available through the “Thread.pm” API. This threading model has been deprecated, and was removed as of Perl 5.10.0.)
We can use yum
or dnf
to install perl-threads
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install perl-threads.
Install perl-threads on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install perl-threads
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install perl-threads
Install perl-threads on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install perl-threads
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install perl-threads
How To Uninstall perl-threads on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the perl-threads
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove perl-threads
