In this tutorial we learn how to install perl-debug on Kali Linux.

What is perl-debug

perl-debug is:

debugperl provides a debug-enabled version of Perl which can produce extensive information about the interpreter as it compiles and executes a program (see the -D switch in perlrun(1)).

Note that this package is primarily of use in debugging Perl rather than perl programs, which may be traced/debugged using the standard perl binary using the -d switch (see perldebug(1)).

In addition, this package also includes debugging information for the normal Perl interpreter.

There are three methods to install perl-debug on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install perl-debug Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install perl-debug using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install perl-debug

Install perl-debug Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install perl-debug using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install perl-debug

Install perl-debug Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install perl-debug using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install perl-debug

How To Uninstall perl-debug on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the perl-debug package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove perl-debug

Uninstall perl-debug And Its Dependencies

To uninstall perl-debug and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove perl-debug

Remove perl-debug Configurations and Data

To remove perl-debug configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge perl-debug

Remove perl-debug configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove perl-debug configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge perl-debug
