In this tutorial we learn how to install perl-String-CRC32 on AlmaLinux 8.

What is perl-String-CRC32

This packages provides a perl module to generate checksums from strings and from files. The checksums are the same as those calculated by ZMODEM, PKZIP, PICCHECK and many others. There’s another perl module called String CRC values of various widths (i.e. not just 32 bits), but the generated sums differ from those of the programs mentioned above.

We can use yum or dnf to install perl-String-CRC32 on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install perl-String-CRC32.

Install perl-String-CRC32 on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install perl-String-CRC32 using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install perl-String-CRC32

Install perl-String-CRC32 on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install perl-String-CRC32 using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install perl-String-CRC32

How To Uninstall perl-String-CRC32 on AlmaLinux 8

To uninstall only the perl-String-CRC32 package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove perl-String-CRC32
