What is perl-Socket

This module provides a variety of constants, structure manipulators and other functions related to socket-based networking. The values and functions provided are useful when used in conjunction with Perl core functions such as socket(), setsockopt() and bind(). It also provides several other support functions, mostly for dealing with conversions of network addresses between human-readable and native binary forms, and for hostname resolver operations.

We can use yum or dnf to install perl-Socket on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install perl-Socket.

Install perl-Socket on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install perl-Socket using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install perl-Socket

Install perl-Socket on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install perl-Socket using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install perl-Socket

How To Uninstall perl-Socket on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the perl-Socket package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove perl-Socket
