How To Install perl-Crypt-PBKDF2 on CentOS 7

In this tutorial we learn how to install perl-Crypt-PBKDF2 on CentOS 7. perl-Crypt-PBKDF2 is PBKDF2 password hashing algorithm

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install perl-Crypt-PBKDF2 on CentOS 7.

What is perl-Crypt-PBKDF2

PBKDF2 is a secure password hashing algorithm that uses the techniques of “key strengthening” to make the complexity of a brute-force attack arbitrarily high. PBKDF2 uses any other cryptographic hash or cipher (by convention, usually HMAC-SHA1, but Crypt number of iterations of the hashing function, and a nearly unlimited output hash size (up to 2**32 - 1 times the size of the output of the back-end hash). The hash is salted, as any password hash should be, and the salt may also be of arbitrary size.

We can use yum or dnf to install perl-Crypt-PBKDF2 on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install perl-Crypt-PBKDF2.

Install perl-Crypt-PBKDF2 on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install perl-Crypt-PBKDF2 using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install perl-Crypt-PBKDF2

Install perl-Crypt-PBKDF2 on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install perl-Crypt-PBKDF2 using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install perl-Crypt-PBKDF2

How To Uninstall perl-Crypt-PBKDF2 on CentOS 7
