How To Install perdition on Ubuntu 20.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install perdition
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is perdition
perdition is:
Perdition allows users to connect to a content-free POP3 or IMAP4 server that will redirect them to their real POP3 or IMAP4 server. This enables mail retrieval for a domain to be split across multiple backend servers on a per user basis. This can also be used to as a POP3 or IMAP4 proxy especially in firewall applications. Perdition supports arbitrary library based map access to determine the server for a user. POSIX Regular Expression, GDBM, Berkeley DB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, ODBC and LDAP libraries ship with the distribution.
There are three methods to install perdition
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install perdition Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install perdition
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install perdition
Install perdition Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install perdition
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install perdition
Install perdition Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install perdition
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install perdition
How To Uninstall perdition on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the perdition
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove perdition
Uninstall perdition And Its Dependencies
To uninstall perdition
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove perdition
Remove perdition Configurations and Data
To remove perdition
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge perdition
Remove perdition configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove perdition
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge perdition
