How To Install pdfgrep on Rocky Linux 8

on Rocky Linux 8.
What is pdfgrep
Pdfgrep is a tool, that works similar to grep, to search text in PDF files. It tries to be compatible with GNU grep, thus many of the favorite GNU grep options are supported. Pdfgrep can search many PDFs at once, even recursively in directories. It supports regular expressions (POSIX and PCRE), provides colored output and finally also support for password protected PDF files.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install pdfgrep
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install pdfgrep.
Install pdfgrep on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install pdfgrep
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install pdfgrep
Install pdfgrep on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install pdfgrep
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install pdfgrep
How To Uninstall pdfgrep on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the pdfgrep
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove pdfgrep
