How To Install pd-slip on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install pd-slip on Kali Linux.

What is pd-slip

pd-slip is:

This library implements the Serial Line Internet Protocol (SLIP), a simple protocol for encapsulating packets within a streaming transport protocol such as TCP/IP or on the serial port.

You will need this if you plan to transmit e.g. OSC messages via TCP/IP or the serial line.

There are three methods to install pd-slip on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install pd-slip Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install pd-slip using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install pd-slip

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install pd-slip using apt by running the following command:

To remove pd-slip configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge pd-slip
