How To Install pd-mjlib on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install pd-mjlib on Kali Linux.
What is pd-mjlib
pd-mjlib is:
A library of objects for composing music written by Mark Williamson.
There are currently five objects:
- pin~ - randomly delivers the input signal to either the right or left outlet with a given probability
- metroplus - allows complex timing bangs to be delivered
- prob - generates random events with a given probability
- monorhythm - basic rhythm pattern building blocks that allows polyrhthms to be generated quickly and easily
- about - delivers a number that is “about” the same as the input number
There are three methods to install pd-mjlib on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pd-mjlib Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install pd-mjlib using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pd-mjlibInstall pd-mjlib Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install pd-mjlib using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pd-mjlibInstall pd-mjlib Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install pd-mjlib using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pd-mjlibHow To Uninstall pd-mjlib on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the pd-mjlib package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pd-mjlibUninstall pd-mjlib And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pd-mjlib and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pd-mjlibRemove pd-mjlib Configurations and Data
To remove pd-mjlib configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pd-mjlibRemove pd-mjlib configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pd-mjlib configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pd-mjlibDependencies
