In this tutorial we learn how to install pd-mjlib on Debian 12.

What is pd-mjlib

pd-mjlib is:

A library of objects for composing music written by Mark Williamson.

There are currently five objects:

  • pin~ - randomly delivers the input signal to either the right or left outlet with a given probability
  • metroplus - allows complex timing bangs to be delivered
  • prob - generates random events with a given probability
  • monorhythm - basic rhythm pattern building blocks that allows polyrhthms to be generated quickly and easily
  • about - delivers a number that is “about” the same as the input number

There are three methods to install pd-mjlib on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install pd-mjlib Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install pd-mjlib using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove pd-mjlib
