How To Install pd-hid on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install pd-hid on Kali Linux.
What is pd-hid
pd-hid is:
[hid] is a Pure Data object for reading data from USB HID devices like keyboards, mice, joysticks, gamepads, keypads, and all sorts of other esoteric controllers like USB knobs, touchscreens, Apple IR Remotes, etc. It represents the data with a cross-platform message scheme which is then translated to the underlying native API for input devices (Linux input.h or Mac OS X HID Utilities).
There are three methods to install pd-hid on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pd-hid Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install pd-hid using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pd-hidInstall pd-hid Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install pd-hid using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pd-hidInstall pd-hid Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install pd-hid using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pd-hidHow To Uninstall pd-hid on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the pd-hid package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pd-hidUninstall pd-hid And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pd-hid and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pd-hidRemove pd-hid Configurations and Data
To remove pd-hid configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pd-hidRemove pd-hid configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pd-hid configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pd-hidDependencies
