How To Install pd-deken-apt on Debian 11

In this tutorial we learn how to install pd-deken-apt
on Debian 11.
What is pd-deken-apt
pd-deken-apt is:
deken is a simple and easy to use package manager for Pure Data (Pd).
The deken-plugin integrates with the Pd user interface, where you can search for externals and install them with a single click.
This addon allows one to additionally use ‘apt’ for installing Debian provided packages from within the deken-plugin (rather than downloading binaries from the Pure Data community website).
There are three methods to install pd-deken-apt
on Debian 11. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pd-deken-apt Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pd-deken-apt
using apt-get

sudo apt-get -y install pd-deken-apt

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pd-deken-apt
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pd-deken-apt
Install pd-deken-apt Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pd-deken-apt
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pd-deken-apt
How To Uninstall pd-deken-apt on Debian 11
To uninstall only the pd-deken-apt
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pd-deken-apt
Uninstall pd-deken-apt And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pd-deken-apt
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 11, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pd-deken-apt
Remove pd-deken-apt Configurations and Data
To remove pd-deken-apt
configuration and data from Debian 11 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pd-deken-apt
