In this tutorial we learn how to install pcp on AlmaLinux 8.

What is pcp

Performance Co-Pilot (PCP) provides a framework and services to support system-level performance monitoring and performance management. The PCP open source release provides a unifying abstraction for all of the interesting performance data in a system, and allows client applications to easily retrieve and process any subset of that data.

We can use yum or dnf to install pcp on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install pcp.

Install pcp on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install pcp using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install pcp

Install pcp on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install pcp using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install pcp

How To Uninstall pcp on AlmaLinux 8

To uninstall only the pcp package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove pcp
