How To Install pcmanx-gtk2 on Debian 9

What is pcmanx-gtk2
pcmanx-gtk2 is:
PCManX is a newly developed GPL’d version of PCMan, a full-featured famous BBS client. It aimed to be an easy-to-use yet full-featured telnet client facilitating BBS browsing with the ability to process double-byte characters. Some handy functions like tabbed-browsing, auto-login and a built-in ANSI editor enabling colored text editing are also provided.
This version is developed with pure gtk2 and xft, thus has much low dependency.
There are three methods to install pcmanx-gtk2 on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pcmanx-gtk2 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pcmanx-gtk2 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pcmanx-gtk2
Install pcmanx-gtk2 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pcmanx-gtk2 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pcmanx-gtk2
Install pcmanx-gtk2 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pcmanx-gtk2 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pcmanx-gtk2
How To Uninstall pcmanx-gtk2 on Debian 9
To uninstall only the pcmanx-gtk2 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pcmanx-gtk2
Uninstall pcmanx-gtk2 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pcmanx-gtk2 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pcmanx-gtk2
Remove pcmanx-gtk2 Configurations and Data
To remove pcmanx-gtk2 configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pcmanx-gtk2
Remove pcmanx-gtk2 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pcmanx-gtk2 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pcmanx-gtk2
