What is pbzip2
PBZIP2 is a parallel implementation of the bzip2 block-sorting file compressor that uses pthreads and achieves near-linear speedup on SMP machines. The output of this version is fully compatible with bzip2 v1.0.2 or newer (ie with pbzip2 can be decompressed with bzip2).
We can use yum
or dnf
to install pbzip2
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install pbzip2.
Install pbzip2 on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
After updating yum database, We can install pbzip2
using yum
