What is pax
The ‘pax’ utility is the POSIX standard archive tool. It supports the two most common forms of standard Unix archive (backup) files - CPIO and TAR.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install pax
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install pax.
Install pax on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum

After updating yum database, We can install pax
