How To Install paw++ on Debian 10

on Debian 10.
What is paw++
paw++ is:
CERNLIB is a suite of data analysis tools and libraries created for use in physics experiments, but also with applications to other fields such as the biological sciences.
This package includes Paw++, an interactive program for use in analysis and graphical presentation. Paw++ is the same program as PAW (in the “paw” package), but with a more user-friendly Motif-based GUI, compiled against Lesstif in Debian.
The program is linked statically against the CERN libraries on 64-bit architectures in order to function properly, as its design is not very 64-bit clean.
There are three methods to install paw++
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install paw++ Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install paw++
using apt-get

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install paw++
using aptitude

How To Uninstall paw++ on Debian 10
To uninstall only the paw++
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove paw++
Uninstall paw++ And Its Dependencies
To uninstall paw++
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove paw++
Remove paw++ Configurations and Data
To remove paw++
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge paw++
