How To Install patchutils on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install patchutils on Kali Linux.
What is patchutils
patchutils is:
This package includes the following utilities:
- combinediff creates a cumulative patch from two incremental patches
- dehtmldiff extracts a diff from an HTML page
- filterdiff extracts or excludes diffs from a diff file
- fixcvsdiff fixes diff files created by CVS that “patch” mis-interprets
- flipdiff exchanges the order of two patches
- grepdiff shows which files are modified by a patch matching a regex
- interdiff shows differences between two unified diff files
- lsdiff shows which files are modified by a patch
- recountdiff recomputes counts and offsets in unified context diffs
- rediff and editdiff fix offsets and counts of a hand-edited diff
- splitdiff separates out incremental patches
- unwrapdiff demangles patches that have been word-wrapped
There are three methods to install patchutils on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install patchutils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install patchutils using apt-get by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To uninstall only the patchutils package we can use the following command:

To remove patchutils configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
