How To Install passwordsafe-common on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install passwordsafe-common on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is passwordsafe-common
passwordsafe-common is:
Password Safe allows you to safely and easily create a secured and encrypted user name/password list. With Password Safe all you have to do is create and remember a single “Master Password” of your choice in order to unlock and access your entire user name/password list.
This is the GNU/Linux version of the popular PasswordSafe password manager, originally designed by the renowned security technologist Bruce Schneier and open sourced in 2002.
Compatible with 1.x, 2.x and 3.x versions of the database format.
This package contains the parts of Password Safe that are common to all architectures, including in-program help files.
Note: This is a BETA release for Linux, therefore some functionality may not yet be implemented.
There are three methods to install passwordsafe-common on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install passwordsafe-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install passwordsafe-common using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install passwordsafe-common
Install passwordsafe-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install passwordsafe-common using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install passwordsafe-common
Install passwordsafe-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install passwordsafe-common using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install passwordsafe-common
How To Uninstall passwordsafe-common on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the passwordsafe-common package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove passwordsafe-common
Uninstall passwordsafe-common And Its Dependencies
To uninstall passwordsafe-common and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove passwordsafe-common
Remove passwordsafe-common Configurations and Data
To remove passwordsafe-common configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge passwordsafe-common
Remove passwordsafe-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove passwordsafe-common configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge passwordsafe-common
