How To Install parsnp on Debian 12
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install parsnp on Debian 12.
What is parsnp
parsnp is:
Parsnp was designed to align the core genome of hundreds to thousands of bacterial genomes within a few minutes to few hours. Input can be both draft assemblies and finished genomes, and output includes variant (SNP) calls, core genome phylogeny and multi-alignments. Parsnp leverages contextual information provided by multi-alignments surrounding SNP sites for filtration/cleaning, in addition to existing tools for recombination detection/filtration and phylogenetic reconstruction.
There are three methods to install parsnp on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install parsnp Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install parsnp using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install parsnp
Install parsnp Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install parsnp using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install parsnp
Install parsnp Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install parsnp using aptitude by running the following command:

How To Uninstall parsnp on Debian 12

Remove parsnp Configurations and Data
To remove parsnp configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
