How To Install pari-doc on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install pari-doc on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is pari-doc
pari-doc is:
PARI/GP is a widely used computer algebra system designed for fast computations in number theory (factorizations, algebraic number theory, elliptic curves…), but also contains a large number of other useful functions to compute with mathematical entities such as matrices, polynomials, power series, algebraic numbers etc., and a lot of transcendental functions. PARI is also available as a C library to allow for faster computations.
Originally developed by Henri Cohen and his co-workers (University Bordeaux I, France), PARI is now under the GPL and maintained by Karim Belabas with the help of many volunteer contributors.
This package contains the documentation and the extended online help.
There are three methods to install pari-doc on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pari-doc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pari-doc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pari-doc
Install pari-doc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pari-doc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pari-doc
Install pari-doc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pari-doc using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pari-doc
How To Uninstall pari-doc on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the pari-doc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pari-doc
Uninstall pari-doc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pari-doc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pari-doc
Remove pari-doc Configurations and Data
To remove pari-doc configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pari-doc
Remove pari-doc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pari-doc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pari-doc
