What is pam_2fa

The PAM 2FA module provides a second factor authentication, which can be combined with the standard PAM-based password authentication to ask for * What you know * What you have (pick one of) * A Google Authenticator Application on your phone * A Phone Number capable of receiving SMS * A Yubikey

We can use yum or dnf to install pam_2fa on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install pam_2fa.

Install pam_2fa on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install pam_2fa using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install pam_2fa

Install pam_2fa on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install pam_2fa using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install pam_2fa

How To Uninstall pam_2fa on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the pam_2fa package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove pam_2fa
