How To Install pads on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install pads on Kali Linux.
What is pads
pads is:
Pads is a signature based detection engine used to passively detect network assets. It can determine which systems are alive in the network as well as the services they make use of. It is designed to complement IDS technology by providing context to IDS alerts. Unlike other tools, like nmap, it will not generate any network traffic which makes it useful to run both on network capture files and promiscuous mode interfaces.
There are three methods to install pads on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pads Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install pads using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install padsInstall pads Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install pads using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install padsInstall pads Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install pads using aptitude by running the following command:

To uninstall only the pads package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove padsUninstall pads And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pads and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove padsRemove pads Configurations and Data
To remove pads configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge padsRemove pads configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
