How To Install pacvim on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install pacvim on Kali Linux.

What is pacvim

pacvim is:

PacVim is a game that teaches you vim commands. You must move pacman (the green cursor) to highlight each word on the gameboard while avoiding the ghosts (in red).

Vim is a great tool to write and edit code, but many people, including me, struggled with the steep learning curve. I did not find a fun, free way to learn about the vim commands in-depth, and thus, PacVim was born. Inspired by the classic, PacMan, PacVim is a game that’ll give anyone plenty of practice with the vim commands while being a ton of fun to play.

There are three methods to install pacvim on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install pacvim Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install pacvim using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install pacvim

Install pacvim Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install pacvim using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install pacvim

Install pacvim Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install pacvim using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install pacvim

How To Uninstall pacvim on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the pacvim package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove pacvim

Uninstall pacvim And Its Dependencies

To uninstall pacvim and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove pacvim

Remove pacvim Configurations and Data

To remove pacvim configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge pacvim

Remove pacvim configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove pacvim configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pacvim
