How To Install pack on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install pack on Kali Linux.
What is pack
pack is:
PACK was developed in order to aid in a password cracking competition “Crack Me If You Can” that occurred during Defcon 2010. The goal of this toolkit is to aid in preparation for the “better than bruteforce” password attacks by analyzing common ways that people create passwords. After the analysis stage, the statistical database can be used to generate attack masks for tools such as oclHashcat.
NOTE: This tool itself can not crack passwords, but helps other tools crack more passwords faster.
There are three methods to install pack on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pack Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install pack using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install packInstall pack Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install pack using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install packInstall pack Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install pack using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install packHow To Uninstall pack on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the pack package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove packUninstall pack And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pack and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove packRemove pack Configurations and Data
To remove pack configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge packRemove pack configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pack configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge packDependencies
