How To Install ovn-host on Debian 10

In this tutorial we learn how to install ovn-host
on Debian 10.
What is ovn-host
ovn-host is:
OVN, the Open Virtual Network, is a system to support virtual network abstraction. OVN complements the existing capabilities of OVS to add native support for virtual network abstractions, such as virtual L2 and L3 overlays and security groups.
ovn-host provides the userspace components and utilities for OVN that can be run on every host/hypervisor.
There are three methods to install ovn-host
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ovn-host Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ovn-host
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ovn-host
Install ovn-host Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ovn-host
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ovn-host
Install ovn-host Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ovn-host
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ovn-host
How To Uninstall ovn-host on Debian 10
To uninstall only the ovn-host
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ovn-host
Uninstall ovn-host And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ovn-host
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ovn-host
Remove ovn-host Configurations and Data
To remove ovn-host
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ovn-host
Remove ovn-host configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ovn-host
