How To Install ostree-push on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ostree-push on Kali Linux.
What is ostree-push
ostree-push is:
ostree-push uses ssh to push commits from a local OSTree repo to a remote OSTree repo. This is to fill a gap where currently you can only pull commits in core ostree. To publish commits to a remote repository, you either have to pull from the local repo to the remote repo or use an out of band mechanism like rsync.
There are three methods to install ostree-push on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ostree-push Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ostree-push using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ostree-pushInstall ostree-push Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ostree-push using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ostree-pushInstall ostree-push Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ostree-push using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ostree-pushHow To Uninstall ostree-push on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the ostree-push package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ostree-pushUninstall ostree-push And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ostree-push and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ostree-pushRemove ostree-push Configurations and Data
To remove ostree-push configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ostree-pushRemove ostree-push configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ostree-push configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ostree-pushDependencies
