How To Install osmo-pcu on Ubuntu 22.04

What is osmo-pcu
osmo-pcu is:
The GPRS Packet Control Unit is co-located with the GSM BTS or GSM BSC in order to provide packet-switched services for 2G (2.5G, 2.75G) networks. OsmoPCU is the Osmcoom implementation of this network element. It interfaces to osmo-bts via the PCU socket of OsmoBTS and via Gb (NS-over-IP) interface with the SGSN such as OsmoSGSN.
There are three methods to install osmo-pcu
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install osmo-pcu Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install osmo-pcu
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install osmo-pcu
Install osmo-pcu Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install osmo-pcu
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install osmo-pcu
Install osmo-pcu Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install osmo-pcu
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install osmo-pcu
How To Uninstall osmo-pcu on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the osmo-pcu
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove osmo-pcu
Uninstall osmo-pcu And Its Dependencies
To uninstall osmo-pcu
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove osmo-pcu
Remove osmo-pcu Configurations and Data
To remove osmo-pcu
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge osmo-pcu
Remove osmo-pcu configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove osmo-pcu
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge osmo-pcu
