How To Install osmo-bts on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install osmo-bts on Kali Linux.
What is osmo-bts
osmo-bts is:
OsmoBTS is a software implementation of Layer2/3 of a BTS. It implements the following protocols/interfaces: LAPDm (GSM 04.06) RTP A-bis/IP in IPA multiplex OML (GSM TS 12.21) RSL (GSM TS 08.58)
OsmoBTS is modular and has support for multiple back-ends. A back-end talks to a specific L1/PHY implementation of the respective BTS hardware. Based on this architecture, it should be relatively easy to add a new back-end to support so-far unsupported GSM PHY/L1 and associated hardware.
There are three methods to install osmo-bts on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install osmo-bts Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install osmo-bts using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install osmo-btsInstall osmo-bts Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install osmo-bts using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install osmo-btsInstall osmo-bts Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install osmo-bts using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install osmo-btsHow To Uninstall osmo-bts on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the osmo-bts package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove osmo-btsUninstall osmo-bts And Its Dependencies
To uninstall osmo-bts and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove osmo-btsRemove osmo-bts Configurations and Data
To remove osmo-bts configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge osmo-btsRemove osmo-bts configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove osmo-bts configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge osmo-btsDependencies
