How To Install oroborus on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install oroborus on Kali Linux.
What is oroborus
oroborus is:
Oroborus is a small and simple window manager which does exactly what it says it does, manage windows. There is no fancy doc, clip, wharf, or a root menu for that matter. These utilities can be provided by other programs such as “deskmenu”. Oroborus has support for Gnome and session management, or can be run as a stand-alone window manager. This package has also been compiled with Xinerama support.
Oroborus is small, about 72Kb at the time of this package. It has full keyboard control and is very themeable.
There are three methods to install oroborus on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install oroborus Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install oroborus using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install oroborusInstall oroborus Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install oroborus using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install oroborusInstall oroborus Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install oroborus using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install oroborusHow To Uninstall oroborus on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the oroborus package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove oroborusUninstall oroborus And Its Dependencies
To uninstall oroborus and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove oroborusRemove oroborus Configurations and Data
To remove oroborus configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge oroborusRemove oroborus configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove oroborus configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge oroborusDependencies
