How To Install openvswitch-ipsec on Debian 11

What is openvswitch-ipsec
openvswitch-ipsec is:
Open vSwitch is a production quality, multilayer, software-based, Ethernet virtual switch. It is designed to enable massive network automation through programmatic extension, while still supporting standard management interfaces and protocols (e.g. NetFlow, IPFIX, sFlow, SPAN, RSPAN, CLI, LACP, 802.1ag). In addition, it is designed to support distribution across multiple physical servers similar to VMware’s vNetwork distributed vswitch or Cisco’s Nexus 1000V.
This package provides IPsec tunneling support for OVS tunnels.
There are three methods to install openvswitch-ipsec
on Debian 11. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install openvswitch-ipsec Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install openvswitch-ipsec
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install openvswitch-ipsec
Install openvswitch-ipsec Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install openvswitch-ipsec
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install openvswitch-ipsec
Install openvswitch-ipsec Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install openvswitch-ipsec
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install openvswitch-ipsec
How To Uninstall openvswitch-ipsec on Debian 11
To uninstall only the openvswitch-ipsec
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove openvswitch-ipsec
Uninstall openvswitch-ipsec And Its Dependencies
To uninstall openvswitch-ipsec
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 11, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove openvswitch-ipsec
Remove openvswitch-ipsec Configurations and Data
To remove openvswitch-ipsec
configuration and data from Debian 11 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge openvswitch-ipsec
Remove openvswitch-ipsec configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove openvswitch-ipsec
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge openvswitch-ipsec
